Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions that come up most.
Why does PixelMint keep asking me to accept a TOS?
It's a one-time, per-person check. The very first time you use any button, menu, or slash command, you'll get a private prompt to accept the Terms of Service before that (or any future) command runs. Accept it once and it never asks again. See Terms & Privacy for the full text.
A command isn't doing anything — what's wrong?
Check for a private, only-you-can-see-it message first. That's almost always either the TOS prompt described above, or an error reply that Discord only shows to you.
Should I use slash commands or the prefix?
Either — they do the same things. Slash commands (/game slots) are easier to discover since Discord lists every option for you. Prefix commands (.slots) are faster once you know what you're typing. Plain natural language works for a lot of commands too.
How do I change the prefix?
/setup prefix prefix:?
See Admin & Setup Reference for the rest of the setup options.
Why won't the AI help with my homework/code?
That's intentional — see the note on the AI Chat page. It's built for conversation, not as a study tool, and will deflect those questions in-character rather than answer them.
I lost coins in a game — can I get them back?
No — game outcomes aren't reversible. If you want to protect coins from a losing streak, move them into your bank account first; games only ever touch your wallet.
I don't want to open Discord — can I find help here instead?
Every page in this documentation has an Ask a Question link in the top bar. It opens a short form that emails your question directly — no Discord account needed to reach out, though you'll still need PixelMint in a server to actually use it. In Discord itself, /help or typing help opens the full 19-section guidebook.
I found a bug — where do I report it?
Either works — pick whichever is easier:
What's the difference between Autoresponder and a custom command?
A custom command needs your prefix typed exactly — .rules and nothing else triggers it. Autoresponder watches ordinary conversation with no prefix at all, and can match a word anywhere in a sentence, at the start, at the end, by wildcard, or by regex. Use a custom command when you want a predictable, deliberate trigger; use autoresponder when you want the bot to react to things people say naturally.
The bot says it's missing permissions — why?
Check that PixelMint's role is positioned above any role it needs to manage, and that it has the specific permission the failing command needs (e.g. Manage Roles for auto-role, Manage Channels for /setup create).
